Illustrated with three six Oscar casket bar handles, a T piece at each end and six wreath holders. It will also have an engraved nameplate central on the lid. This is a beautiful coffin. This coffin will be very heavy, so it may not be suitable if the family are thinking of carrying!

The Chiltern – Oak veneer traditional coffin

Of all the traditional coffins we supply, this is the most popular design. A simple but dignified oak veneered coffin, with six handles and wreath holders. To be honest, this is the one we will try to “make” you select. It is the one we stock continually in this colour. Our current (2020) charge for this coffin is £525.00.

The Chiltern – Oak veneer DM RL

A veneered oak coffin with double mouldings (DM) and a raised panel on the lid (RL). Illustrated here with 700/4 metal handles and six wreath holders. This coffin could be stained darker if you wish, and it could also have plastic handles. The raised lid is nice, however if you are placing a lovely flowing floral tribute on top, the effect may be completely lost under the flowers. You can therefore have this one without the raised lid.

The Canterbury – Oak veneer DM RL

This traditional coffin has pressed panel sides, pressed panel end sections, a raised lid, double mouldings, and here illustrated with Oscar bar and T-ends and six wreath holders. This is true oak veneer on MDF and if you compare it to the Cambridge coffin at the top of the page, you will see it is very similar, but considerably less expensive. And as it will be much lighter, it would be easier for family members to carry.

This coffin has pressed panel sides, ends, and double mouldings (DM). The lid is raised (RL) and here illustrated with Oscar bar and T-ends and six wreath holders. This is Sapele veneer on MDF for those who like the darker look. For those of you who are concerned, this is a West African product. But whilst it does come a long way it is also a critical traded product for that country and is a more sustainable product than genuine Mahogany. In case it is important, its good to know.
